Update from the President
Our November mixer saw us at Garnet Station. Thank
you to all who attended and a thank you to the organisers.
This mixer got us out of the inner city and
into the inner suburbs. It was good to have a range of speakers again and that Rainbow Auckland is supporting local businesses. It was generous of Verity
George to host our evening — we thank her for the welcoming atmosphere we all
got. We look forward to having another event with Verity in the future.
I personally would like to thank all members
for the support given to the executive team of Rainbow Auckland — this year saw a new exec come on board with myself as President. With
this, we have seen a few changes with how Rainbow Auckland is running in the
background. We are in a healthier position compared to the AGM earlier this
year.
Going forward for next year, it is about continuing the work we have been
doing this year with the outlook of being stronger. Having a presence in express Magazine is much-needed exposure for Rainbow Auckland and the
partnership benefits can only but help us move forward. Seeing is believing and
we must continue to keep the presence to grow as a community and group.
Another big event we had this year that ran extremely
well was the Meet the Mayoral Candidates evening. All the candidates personally
said how well the event ran and the respect that was shown to all of them. This
is a positive reflection on all of us in the community.
An exciting new network for New Zealand’s
Rainbow communities will be launching soon: Rainbow Directory! Rainbow Auckland have been privileged to
a behind-the-scenes look of an upcoming new service to strengthen networking New
Zealand’s Rainbow communities, businesses and services in major centres and our
regions! The online directory service, called Rainbow Directory, has a
soft ‘Go LIVE’ date set for Monday, December 2nd. RA have signed a partnership with Rainbow
Directory where RA will receive a 10% kick back to our coffers, for all RA
members who join this service.
Grab your December issue of Express. We are
in it and have a featured member sharing an insight of themselves.
Our December mixer coming
up we will be at Shakespeare Hotel in the CBD.
I look forward to meeting
you all and additional others from the wider community. If you yourself have a contact in an organisation you feel we can connect with please tell us. We are always on the lookout.
Ngā mihi,
